AMFA general meeting on October 9 features a tour of Epicurean.
Epicurean was born out of a company making eco-friendly municipal skate parks. The paper composite they used in their ramps was extremely durable and non-porous, but also food safe and dishwasher safe. They started using the excess material to create cutting boards as gifts for family and friends. Demand soared and they began producing and selling a variety of kitchen tools from this wood composite.
As with the skate park company, Epicurean’s quality, design, functionality and responsible business practices helped them build the brand and become a leader in the category. The same holds true for their sister companies, Loll Designs and Intectural.
Where the skate parks they once created became the heart of the community, Epicurean’s sole focus is now at the heart of the kitchen. Their cutting boards and kitchen tools are at the center of everyday life for both casual cooks and seasoned gourmets. They pride themselves on crafting products that are not only simple, functional and long-lasting, but also environmentally responsible from start to finish. They choose materials which are both durable and eco-friendly, and they use production processes that minimize and recycle waste. Their goal is to create the highest quality products that balance performance with respect for the environment.
Please wear closed toed shoes. Epicurean will provide safety glasses.
Prior to the tour, AMFA leadership will provide an update and guide discussion on a variety of projects and plans relevant to AMFA and AMFA Educational Trust --- relevant today and relevant to the future of the organization!
