Sell Across State Lines? Time to Understand How the Wayfair Decision Impacts Your Bottom Line

To understand if you are impacted by Wayfair, ask yourself these two questions: Does my company sell goods or services into states where it is not registered or filing sales/use tax returns? Does my company ship goods or provide services to customers located in states where we have little or no physical presence?

If your answer is yes to either of these questions, you are more than likely impacted by the Wayfair v. South Dakota Supreme Court decision made in 2018. Nearly every state has established nexus standards that you need to understand and comply with. Even if you’re considered sales tax exempt, there is still likely a filing component you may not be aware of.
